ALBANY — Thirty minutes before Friday’s MAAC men’s basketball game against Niagara, Siena College announced junior Nico Clareth will not play.

“Clareth informed the team this morning that he would be traveling home to his native Baltimore to attend to a family issue,” reads a statement from the school’s athletic department. “Clareth’s status is day-to-day.”

Clareth, a co-captain, is averaging 15.1 points per game this season, but has only scored nine points in Siena’s first two conference games.

A little less than a year ago, Clareth took a leave of absence from the Saints before later returning to the team.
