ALBANY — A 42-year-old Cobleskill man was ordered held Tuesday after being arrested last week for allegedly receiving and possessing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The man, identified as Jason M. VanBuren, is alleged to have received and possessed the pornography on a phone, according to a news release.

VanBuren, who was arrested Friday, appeared at a detention hearing Tuesday. U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Stewart ordered VanBuren be detained until further proceedings, prosecutors said.

If convicted of all charges, officials said, VanBuren faces at least five years and up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

The case is being investigated by the FBI, as well as Cobleskill and state police.
