Memories of MLK: Daily Gazette seeking remembrances of Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream for America — a dream of civil rights, equality and brotherhood.

The dream is still alive, 50 years after the civil rights leader’s death on April 4, 1968.

The Daily Gazette wants to hear from readers who have been influenced by King and his work.

We hope people will share their memories of the night King was shot in Memphis, Tennessee — and how they reacted to the news. We also hope readers young and old will share what King taught them through his words and actions, and what impacts they think he had on the country.

If people ever met King, we’d like to hear that story, too.

Here’s how you can make your voice heard:

If you would prefer to write longhand or type, mail your letter to The Daily Gazette, 2345 Maxon Road Extension, P.O. Box 1090, Schenectady, N.Y., 12301-1090. Please write “Attention Jeff Wilkin” on the envelope. Please include your name and address.

We hope to include photographs and video segments with this package, which will appear online and in print on Wednesday, April 4.

Deadline for all submissions will be Friday, March 2.
