2 face unemployment benefits charges

Felonies filed against Halfmoon, Schenectady residents

ALBANY — Two people have been charged with receiving unemployment benefits to which they weren’t entitled in separate cases, state police said.

Shawni T. Davis, 35, of Halfmoon, faces one count each of third-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records and first-degree filing a false instrument, all felonies.

Davis is accused of taking $5,500 in benefits he wasn’t entitled to between May and June 2016, and then between September and November 2016, state police said.

Paula S. Paquin, 58, of Schenectady, also faces one count each of third-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records and first-degree filing a false instrument.

She is accused of taking $6,000 in unemployment benefits she wasn’t entitled to between November 2015 and September 2016, state police said.
