EPHRATAH — An investigation into an October burglary resulted in the arrest Monday of a Fort Plain man on charges that accuse him of being in possession of a stolen ATV, state police said.

Michael J. Mehaffy, 43, faces one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor.

Police found the stolen Polaris four-wheeler behind a residence in Ephratah while investigating the October burglary complaint. Police said Mehaffy allegedly purchased the stolen ATV from another person and hid it behind the residence.

Mehaffy turned himself in on Monday. He was released to return to court later.
