SCHENECTADY COUNTY — Schenectady County has temporarily closed several county-owned nature preserves and parks due to icing and other weather conditions.

County officials on Jan. 23 announced they had closed the Plotterkill Preserve in Rotterdam and the Indiankill Preserve in Glenville, both of which contain steep slopes where injuries have occurred in the past.

Also closed is the County Forest property in Duanesburg and the county bike path in Rotterdam from Schenectady County Community College west to Route 5S. The closings are in effect until further notice.

“It’s just the weather; between the thawing and freezing, there are significant icing conditions,” county spokesman Joe McQueen said.
