SCHENECTADY — Construction crews began cleanup work Wednesday to prepare the slope above Nott Terrace for stabilization work in the wake of a January landslide there.
Heavy machinery could be seen digging apart debris from the slide, which sent a wall of earth, trees and rocks into the building at 223 Nott Terrace in the early morning of Jan. 28. The slide injured three people and resulted in the evacuation of 27 residents of nearby buildings.
The cause of the landslide has still not been determined, according to city officials.
Carver Cos. of Altamont was hired for approximately $94,500 to make the slope safe again.
The plan was to begin regrading the slope on Thursday, weather permitting. The slope will then be packed with medium stone fill to stabilize it.
