Police: Colonie man had gun in trunk

Traffic stop leads to a man's arrest and discovery of loaded handgun, heroin and drug paraphernalia

COLONIE – A traffic stop this week led to a man’s arrest and the discovery of a loaded handgun, heroin and drug paraphernalia, police said.

The stop happened at about 8:16 p.m. Monday near the corner of Albany Shaker Road and Wolf Road. Officer Javier Martinez spotted the driver commit vehicle and traffic violations and pulled him over, police said.

The officer soon found a bag containing 22 grams of heroin on the driver and found the drug paraphernalia in the front seat and a loaded 9mm handgun in the trunk, police said. 

Police identified the driver as Donald C. Geddes, 34, of 12 Poplar St., Colonie. He faces one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two felony drug counts, criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors, and traffic violations.

He was held pending arraignment.
