Schenectady County Community College closed by Mohawk river flooding

Flood-affected road has reopened

Floodwaters from the Mohawk River have closed Schenectady County Community College.

“All day and evening classes, activities and events are canceled,” states a notice on the college’s website. “Staff and faculty should not report to work.”

The YWCA’s day care center at the college is also closed. The YWCA, located in the Stockade on Washington Avenue, remains open.

Local roads affected by the Mohawk — which overflowed late Tuesday and forced some evacuations in the Stockade — have reopened. Rotterdam police said Route 5S (River Road) reopened at 10:10 a.m.
