GLENVILLE — Two people died in a Monday evening head-on crash on Route 5 in Glenville, police said.

Police identified the victims as Tamicia Liberty, 59, of Schenectady, and Joshua Mendetta, 28, of Gloversville.

Liberty and Mendetta were the drivers — and only occupants — of the two vehicles, police said.

The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Route 5 in West Glenville at Wolf Hollow Road, police said.

Police said it appears Mendetta’s vehicle, which was westbound at the time of the crash, crossed into the path of Liberty’s vehicle, striking it head-on.

The crash was still under investigation Tuesday morning. Police do not suspect alcohol or drug involvement. Police are asking any witnesses to contact them at 518-384-0135, option 5.

The Beukendaal Fire Department, GAVAC Ambulance and Mohawk Ambulance assisted.
