
Mike Vorgang, Section II’s career leader in boys’ lacrosse victories, reached another milestone Thursday when Niskayuna knocked off Albany 22-0 in the Surburban Council for the coach’s 400th varsity win.
Vorgang is the only head coach Niskayuna has had; he reached the mark in his 25th varsity season. His resume with the Silver Warriors also includes 15 Section II championships, 20 Section II finals and three state title-game appearances, with a New York title-game win in 2015.
Vorgang is a member of the Adirondack Chapter of the US Lacrosse Hall of Fame and the La Salle Institute Hall of Fame. Vorgang played
lacrosse at La Salle and laSUNY Cortland.
Tyler Gregory collected three goals and seven assists for the 6-0 Silver Warriors, who are No. 7 in the state Class A rankings. Finn McCullough had four goals and three assists, and Drew Collins and David Guest both contributed three goals and one assist. Niskayuna led 17-0 at the half.
Bethlehem beat Averill Park 26-0. Jon Thibedeau led the Eagles with seven goals, while Liam Ferris added five.
Joe McDonald had five goals and an assist to lead Ballston Spa over Saratoga Springs 13-6. Zach Schuette chipped in three goals and four assists.
Shenendehowa beat CBA 12-9. Eric Makhatadze tallied four goals and two assists, while Pat Nagy added four goals.
Connor Quimby collected five goals and two assists to propel Guilderland past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 14-9. Gordy Adams had three goals and one assist for the Spartans.
John Hawkins scored six goals and assisted on a pair in Columbia’s 13-3 win versus Troy. Owen Stefanko added four goals and two assists.
In the Foothills Council, Queensbury (3-0, 8-0) secured a 14-6 win over Glens Falls. Dawson LaLuna totaled five goals and one assist for the Spartans. Hogan Fox had two goals and three assists for the Indians (2-1, 3-2).
