SARATOGA SPRINGS — More than a week after a fire at Lake Local on Saratoga Lake, the restaurant’s owners announced a re-opening will be delayed due to extensive damage.

A post on Lake Local’s Facebook page read, “We are saddened to announce that the damage to the building was severe, and we are unsure when we will be able to reopen at this time. We will keep everyone posted as we get more details, but we are working hard to get up and running as soon as we can.”

The post also mentioned a fundraiser would be organized “within the next few weeks” to help staff members.

Lake Local, at 550 Union Ave., opened for its fourth season on April 26. An electrical fire broke out on April 29, damaging the back portion of the building, including the roof and attic.

Owner John Haynes could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

On April 30, Haynes said the restaurant has more than 100 employees.

Those who wish to donate an auction item for the fundraiser were asked to visit Lake Local’s Facebook page.

Monetary donations are also being accepted at any First National Bank of Scotia branch under the“Lake Local Employee Relief” account.
