Hamburg Street detour extended

DOT: Local traffic, deliveries will still be possible

ROTTERDAM — The detour of eastbound traffic on Hamburg Street will be extended to the Route 7 roundabout starting Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The eastbound lane will remain closed around-the-clock, as DOT contractors proceed with a $12.5 million road reconstruction that will also add sidewalks and sewers in the area. The westbound lanes will remain open.

Trucks are being detoured in both directions, except for local deliveries. Homes and businesses in the area will continue to be accessible, DOT officials said. CDTA bus service, trash pickup, local deliveries and other services in the area will continue to be provided, according to the DOT.

Construction is scheduled to be finished late this year.
