HALFMOON – A purse-snatching incident from last month resulted in the arrest of two people for that, as well as a gun-point convenience store robbery, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said this week.
Michael T. Garrick, 35, and Alicia C. Lewie, 33, both of 1 Ranger Road, Schuylerville, were each arrested this week on one count of third-degree grand larceny and second-degree robbery, felonies.
Deputies began investigating them after the May 27 purse-snatching incident at the WalMart in Halfmoon. A man grabbed a woman’s pocketbook from her shopping cart and fled in a dark-colored vehicle, officials said.
Investigators soon zeroed in on Garrick and Lewie for the WalMart incident and then identified them as responsible for an April 26 robbery at the Cumberland Farms in Schuylerville, officials said. A gun was displayed. That part of the investigation remains ongoing, but investigators believe the weapon to have been a BB gun.
The pair were arraigned and ordered held.
