ALBANY – How do you get project materials to the roof of the Corning Tower?
By helicopter, of course.
The state Office of General Services announced Thursday that they will use a helicopter to lift the material to the Corning Roof between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, weather permitting.
The helicopter will work around the tower and lift materials from the Grand Street parking lot to the roof. It will be the first of three such operations in the coming months related to roofing work and replacement of the building’s original maintenance rigs.
The work will also impact traffic on the ground. Some roads in the immediate area will be closed while the helicopter works.
