Man arrested following Spa City burglary

SARATOGA SPRINGS — William Hoffay, 43, was arrested Tuesday in connection with an April burglary at Smashburger in Saratoga Springs. 

Police said Hoffay forced his way into Smashburger at 46 Marion Ave. on April 15 — causing significant damage in the process — before stealing a safe and $3,500 in cash. 

The Averill Park resident was charged with third-degree grand larceny, second-degree criminal mischief and third-degree burglary.

Hoffay is being held in Rensselaer County Jail.
