Documents: Schenectady officer’s hand injured in struggle

SCHENECTADY – A man being arrested on a marijuana possession count this past week struggled with officers, injuring one, authorities said.

Shakeam I. Grant, 19, of Chrisler Avenue, faces one count of second-degree assault, a felony, along with misdemeanor criminal mischief and resisting arrest counts. He also faces a violation marijuana possession charge.

Grant is accused of possessing marijuana just after 7 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Brandywine Avenue and State Street, according to court documents.

As officers attempted to take him into custody, Grant struggled and caused an injury to city officer Takeo Mosher’s right hand, according to documents. Mosher’s shirt also ripped during the struggle, leading the criminal mischief count, documents read.
