SCHENECTADY — Police and other emergency personnel pulled a body from the southern bank of the Mohawk River near Riverside Park in Schenectady Friday after a caller reported a body in the water.

Father Richard Carlino said he was driving his pontoon boat on his day off when he discovered the body near a dock.

Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said an investigation into the person’s identity and cause of death was continuing, so he could not provide further details.

Carlino said the body appeared to be a man and looked to him like it “had been there for some time.”

Police were seen removing the body from the river shortly after 1 p.m., and it was taken from the scene at 1:40 p.m.
