Man shot and killed Saturday in Albany identified

Arriving officers found the victim inside a vehicle; he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead there

ALBANY — Police Sunday identified the man shot and killed Saturday morning as a 31-year-old Albany man.

Kahlil Barnes died after being shot at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of Quail and First streets. Arriving officers found Barnes inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds.

Barnes was taken by paramedics to Albany Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The shooting remained under investigation Sunday.
