ROTTERDAM – A car went crashing into a power pole this afternoon on Curry Road, knocking out power to nearly 2,000 customers, according to police and National Grid.
No injuries were reported and power remained out to the impacted customers for nearly two hours. It appeared to have been largely restored by 4:20 p.m., according to the National Grid site.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. near Metro Movers. A car sheared off the pole, leaving the top part hanging by the wires.
No injuries were immediately reported. Curry Road remained closed as power crews worked.
The power outage impacted an area extending down Curry Road to Altamont Avenue and included parts of Rotterdam’s Coldbrook and Highbridge neighborhoods, according to National Grid.
