COLONIE – A Friday night sobriety checkpoint in Colonie resulted in the arrests of three people on drunk driving charges and one man accused of failing to show up in court on a previous DWI charge, state police said.
The checkpoint was separate from one announced this weekend from Ballston, which also resulted in three drunk driving arrests and other charges.
Troopers from Brunswick, Lathan and New Scotland held the checkpoint Friday night in Colonie for the Labor Day weekend.
Arrested in the Colonie checkpoint were:
- John Willsey, 58, of Cohoes, charged with driving while intoxicated. He is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content of .13, above the legal limit of .08, troopers said.
- Derek Powell, 41, of Cohoes, charged with driving while intoxicated and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content of .12 and possessing concentrated cannabis, troopers said.
- Michelle Gagliardi, 31, of Cohoes, charged with driving while intoxicated. She is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content of .11, troopers said.
- Devin Murphy, 32, of Cohoes, was arrested on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on charges related to a New Year’s Eve DWI crash in Albany.He was charged with failing to respond to an appearance ticket and violation unlawful possession of marijuana. He was held pending arraignment in Albany and Colonie, troopers said.
Troopers also cited seven other people on violation unlawful possession of marijuana charges.
