SARATOGA SPRINGS — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame announced Thursday it has named Cate Johnson as its acting director.
Johnson was previously the museum’s director of development. She succeeds Cathy Marino, the museum’s director since 2016.
Marino will continue to work for the museum as project leader of the upcoming Hall of Fame Education Experience, which will open in July 2020, according to a prepared statement by the museum.
Prior to joining the museum in March 2016, Johnson worked for Kiaran McLaughlin Racing Stable for eight years, serving as a liaison to horse owners, coordinating employee benefits and programs, managing relationships with racetracks, vendors and legal counsel, supervising stable logistics and handling website and accounting duties, among other responsibilities, according to the prepared statement.
Prior to her McLaughlin Racing Stable work, Johnson spent eight years as manager of promotions and special events for Ed Lewi Associates Inc., a Clifton Park-based public relations firm, where she was involved in all aspects of client marketing, event promotions and sponsorship development, according to the prepared statement.
