LOUDONVILLE — Siena College men’s basketball media day was Friday.

From the event, here are five notable quotes from players and head coach Jamion Christian.

Evan Fisher, on the first few months with a new coach: “It’s exciting moving forward. When we met Coach in May and got last year over with — that period of uncertainty over — finally meeting Coach and then getting to work in the summer was exciting. As we’ve gotten closer to the season, we kind of have beaten up on each other, so getting some outside competition in the next few weeks will be fun.”

Christian, on his program’s large roster: “I wanted a lot of numbers. I know how we’re going to practice and how competitive it has to be every day. I wanted 17 guys on this roster so we could push the needle forward. It makes it competitive every day. Each day, you walk into the locker room, you see there’s a lot of guys here and a mindset develops from that.”

Khalil Richard, on Siena’s program with Christian at the helm: “We’re in a positive environment now. I feel like Coach is really changing the culture and trying to make Siena history. When we come into practice, his energy is always positive. He’s always motivating. He’s always encouraging us to each be our best. He wants us to each reach out potential.”

Fisher, on Mayhem: “It’s never being tired. Always bringing it. I think we’ve all bought into that and it’s awesome.”

Christian, on how he’s figuring out his rotation: “Everything here has to be about earning it right now.”
