Police: Pedestrian struck early Saturday in Schenectady; driver flees

SCHENECTADY – A pedestrian suffered possibly life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash early Saturday, police said.

The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the corner of Albany Street and Brandywine Avenue, police said.

Officers arrived to find an injured man who had been struck by a vehicle, but the vehicle had fled. The man was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment. Police did not have an update on his condition Sunday.

Police later found the vehicle believed to have been involved in the crash, police said, but reported no charges yet.

The Schenectady Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating with evidence technician units and the Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the police.

The crash was the second hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in the area Saturday. State police in Clifton Park are investigating a hit-and-run there just before midnight Saturday night that seriously injured a pedestrian there. The vehicle in that case continued to be sought.
