Troopers: Amsterdam man drove drunk with 2-year-old in car

FONDA – An Amsterdam man ran off the road while driving drunk with a 2-year-old in his car last week, state police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

The driver, identified as Jason Hancock, 35, was arrested  and charged with felony driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law, troopers said.

The incident happened at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 5 in Fonda, troopers said. Troopers spotted a car off the roadway, disabled in the ditch. They also saw Hancock outside the vehicle, holding his 2-year-old child.

Hancock’s blood alcohol content tested at 0.08, at the legal limit to drive.

Hancock was charged and released to return to court later.
