A 17-year-old student was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony, that accuses her of writing a threatening message about a school shooting in a bathroom at Ballston Spa High School on Tuesday, Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo said Wednesday.
Alexis Ray, a student at the school, was arraigned in Ballston Town Court and released to return to court at a later date, according to the sheriff’s office.
Ray was arrested after an investigation that began when students discovered the writing in the bathroom, officials said. Ray later confessed to writing the note, officials said.

On Wednesday, Zurlo would not detail the teen’s alleged confession or what her motive was believed to be, but he said he didn’t think she was prepared to carry out an attack of the kind mentioned in the note.
“I don’t think the means were there,” Zurlo said.
