SARATOGA SPRINGS — A Clifton Park woman broke into a Saratoga Springs residence early Tuesday and used broken glass to cut a resident there, police said.

Sylvia R. Kool, 24, faces a host of charges in connection with the incident, including first-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at a Leonards Road address. Kool arrived at the residence uninvited and demanded entry, police said. Residents there had orders of protection against her, police said.

After being denied entry, Kool smashed out the window and used a piece of the broken glass to cut a 40-year-old woman inside, police said. Police characterized the injuries as minor, and the woman was treated at the scene. A 27-year-old man was also present.

Kool fled in a car, but police stopped her and arrested her a short time after, police said.

She also faces two counts of first-degree criminal contempt and one count of third-degree criminal mischief, which are felonies, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

Kool was arraigned and ordered held on $25,000 bail.
