Court filing reveals more details of sex abuse allegation

Gloversville school LPN accused of sexual contact

GLOVERSVILLE — Court documents in the first-degree sexual assault case against former Gloversville Enlarged School District LPN Teddy Germain show he is accused of touching a 6-year-old child’s genitals.

Germain, 46, of 305 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, was arrested Friday and charged with sexual abuse in the first degree.
The felony complaint was filed by city Detective Sgt. R. Richardson. Gloversville City Court officials on Monday said that no other depositions or documents have been filed in the case.

Germain is alleged to have committed sexual abuse against the child during normal school hours while at 24 W. Eleventh Ave. at Kingsborough Elementary School.

Richardson wrote in the complaint that, “A person is guilty of sexual abuse in the first degree when he or she subjects another person to sexual contact and when the other person is less than eleven years old.

“While working independently as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), Teddy A. Germain did go beyond his scope of duty … by touching the six-year-old’s genitals and knowing that he is not licensed to do so,” Richardson wrote.

Germain turned himself in to police Friday and was arraigned in City Court. His bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bail bond. Fulton County Correctional Facility officials on Monday said Germain made bail and has been released.

It’s not known if Germain has retained an attorney. A court hearing has been set for Jan. 2 at 9 a.m.

Gloversville school officials on Friday said that Germain no longer works for the school.
