GLENS FALLS — A Washington County couple are the proud parents of the first baby born in the greater Capital Region in 2019.

Colton Donald Ballard arrived at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday at the Joyce Stock Snuggery in Glens Falls Hospital, two days before his calculated due date.

Colton weighed in at 6 pounds 7 inches and 18 inches long. His parents are Reiva Ashline and Shawn Ballard of Hampton.

Capital Region hospitals for years have been collaborating to share news of the area’s first birth of the new year, which can be a point of pride for parents.

The hospitals no longer publicize the first baby born at each facility, only the first born among all of the facilities.
