COLONIE — Bestpass said Thursday its toll-payment transponders are now in more than 500,000 trucks.
The devices is like an E-ZPass, but for commercial fleets rather than individual drivers. The Colonie firm handles billing for nearly 6,000 client companies, saving them time and money at toll barriers nationwide.
Bestpass said it passed the 500,000-transponder milestone in 2018. Also last year, it hired 22 people to bring its workforce to 78, up from 38 three years ago; surpassed $100 million in cumulative toll savings for clients; and handled an average of $2.38 million in tolls each day.
For 2019, it is planning to expand into the entire first floor of its building off Route 155, giving it room to accommodate up to 140 employees.
John Andrews, president and CEO of Bestpass, said: “We are incredibly proud of our success in 2018 and look forward to continued growth in 2019 as the toll experts for commercial fleets of all shapes and sizes.”
