SCHENECTADY — City police were still looking Monday for the person who was driving an SUV when it rolled over into a utility pole on Crane Street early Saturday, police said.
No injuries were reported in the crash, but a witness told police four people ran from the wreck: a man, a woman and two others described as children, police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said.
The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday at the corner of Crane and Van Velsen streets. The SUV rolled onto its side and sheered off the pole in the process.
The witness told police the vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
Police have identified the owner of the SUV but have been unable to contact that person, McCutcheon said. The investigation was continuing.
