SARATOGA SPRINGS – A Ballston Spa man stole savings bonds from a business last summer and cashed one, police said Monday.
Nicholas T. Dixon, 23, was arrested Saturday on felony counts of burglary, forgery and stolen property possession, police said.
Dixon is accused of taking the savings bonds from a job site on Lake Avenue last July, police said. Dixon had been doing some exterior painting at a commercial site when he went inside the business office and took the bonds, police said.
Dixon then went to a local bank and cashed one of the bonds under an assumed name, police said.
Police identified Dixon early on as the suspect, but were unable to locate him until Saturday.
Dixon was arraigned and ordered held on $5,000 bail.
