
Update 3/8/22: Scott A. Smith pleaded guilty to misdemeanor driving while intoxicated in February 2020 and was sentenced in August 2020 to time served and three years probation, court records show.
WILTON – A Saratoga Springs man drove two elementary school children to school Tuesday while drunk, Saratoga County Sheriff’s officials said.
The incident ended in the drop-off area at Dorothy Nolan Elementary School when the man struck another vehicle, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Deputies responded to the 9:14 a.m. incident and arrested the driver, identified as Scott A. Smith, 41, of 61 Granite St. He faces a felony count of aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, along with misdemeanor child endangerment and reckless driving.
Smith was processed and released to appear in court later.
