TU Center reports $1.57M profit for 2018

Arena has shown profit in 26 of 28 years

ALBANY — The Times Union Center ended 2018 with a net operating profit of $1.57 million, management said, an increase from $1.34 million in 2017.

It was the 26th profitable year recorded in the county-owned arena’s 28 years of operations, according to SMG, the management company that runs the facility under contract.

The arena in 2018 hosted 116 events that drew a combined total of over 536,000 spectators.

Already scheduled for 2019 are Elton John, Mumford & Sons, Weezer, Ariana Grande, Fleetwood Mac, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney and Thomas Rhett.
