Troopers: Watervliet man faces felony drug count after Halfmoon stop

HALFMOON – A passenger in a car stopped in Halfmoon Tuesday fought with troopers and tried to run after they found him with drugs, state police said.

The incident happened just before 9 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Sitterly Road and Lake View Drive after officers pulled over the car driven by Julie Q. Rockwell, 45, of Johnstown, with Christopher Morris, 37, of Watervliet, as a passenger, state police said.

Troopers found Morris in possession of drugs. He attempted to flee and resist arrest, but was soon taken into custody, troopers said.

Morris faces one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, along with misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and possession of a hypodermic instrument, state police said.

Rockwell was arrested on misdemeanor counts of aggravated unlicensed operation, possession of a hypodermic instrument and false personation.

Both Morris and Rockwell were arraigned and ordered held on bail.
