Rensselaer County — Brian O. Angelo, also known as DJ Iroc, a DJ and music producer from The Bronx, was arrested Friday on several counts of sexual abuse, according to state police in Rensselaer County.
Angelo, 49, and a resident of Clifton Park, was arrested by Brunswick-based troopers early Friday. The charges stem from several complaints of Angelo sexually abusing children in the Capital Region, troopers said. At the time of the abuse, the children ranged in age from 8 to 14.
Angelo was charged with one count of sexual conduct against a child in the first degree, three counts of a criminal sex act in the first degree, four counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, four counts of forcible touching, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Angelo was arraigned in front of Rensselaer County Court Judge Debra J. Young, and was sent to Rensselaer County Jail without bail. He is due to appear at a later date. The case was investigated by state police in both Brunswick and Latham, the Colonie Police Department, the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office and the START Children’s Center in Rensselaer County.
Angelo began his DJ career in the late 1980s and is the co-founder of the DJ groups, Amerika’s Most Wanted DJ’s and Europe’s Most Wanted DJ’s. He has performed as DJ Iroc on many world tours, including with Alicia Keys, and currently co-hosts five radio shows on Jamz 96.3 FM.
Along with Keys, Angelo has toured with Puff Daddy, DMX and MC. He made an appearance on the Grammys Award show with Keys, and has also been on “The Late Show with David Lettermen,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Carson Daly Show.”
