BACKPACK PROGRAM
CLIFTON PARK — As part of its 15-year anniversary celebration, Starpoint Church in Clifton Park recently presented the Shenendehowa school district with a check for $3,171 for its Bountiful Backpack program.
The program provides backpacks full of food for children to eat on the weekends, when school breakfasts and lunches aren’t available to them.
The check is “a great donation to our Bountiful Backpack program to support our students in need,” said Superintendent L. Oliver Robinson. “We’re so pleased to have Starpoint as partners in the community.”
In November, Starpoint donated $2,855 to Cheryl’s Lodge, the Captain Community Outreach Center in Halfmoon Heights.
The church also helps the children at Cheryl’s Lodge by providing Hunger Boxes on school breaks, and supplying the weekend meals for the summer food program.
The church also provides a lunch to all 12-month Shen district employees over the summer as a way to thank them for all they do year-round for students.
The donations are part of a continued effort from the congregation of Starpoint Church to donate $15 a month to charitable organizations.
