SCHENECTADY — A woman who allegedly failed to disclose her husband’s income is facing welfare fraud charges for taking more than $21,000 in benefits she should not have received, authorities said.

Lydia Walker, 40, of McClellan Street, was arrested Friday on one count of third-degree welfare fraud and four counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, all felonies.

She is accused of applying for and receiving food stamps in 2015 and failing to notify Schenectady County Social Services then — or as of last May — about her husband’s income, according to court documents.

In all, the omission meant she received $21,010 over three-and-a-half years that she should not have received, investigators allege.

Walker was arraigned and released on $1,000 bail.
