With the addition of the Linde Center for Music and Learning, Tanglewood will no longer be a summer-only arts venue.
The four-building addition will house the Tanglewood Learning Institute, which builds on Tanglewood’s artistic and cultural programming. The TLI will present series such as The Big Idea, a speaker event featuring leading experts and luminaries in their fields like Madeleine Albright, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Daniel Shapiro.
With a series called Full Tilt, TLI will present unconventional and subversive performances. The 2019 season includes “Black Mozart” with Bill Barclay and Concert Theatre Works, and performance artist Meow Meow’s “Pandemonium,” a deconstruction of traditional cabaret.
The TLI will also offer open master classes with musicians such as Andris Nelsons, Leonidas Kavakos, Yo-Yo Ma and others. There will be film screenings and opportunities to meet artists, composers and others.
Amateur artists of photography, painting and drawing will also have a place at TLI through Focal Point, a mentorship program offered in collaboration with IS183 Art School of the Berkshires. During the fall, winter and spring, the facility will also be available for use by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Berkshire community and others.
The Linde Center and the Tanglewood Learning Center will open June 28 with an open house on June 29. For information on programming and events, visit tanglewood.org.
