COLONIE — Calls for suspicious activity at a Colonie motel room Saturday led to eight arrests, seven on various drug charges, Colonie police said.
Two of those arrested are a father and son, police said.
The calls focused on activity in Room 18 of the Golden Circle Motel, 706 Loudon Road. The callers told police they believed drug sales were happening there.
Officers and investigators placed the motel under surveillance and stopped several vehicles whose occupants had been seen going into Room 18. Information and evidence from those stops indicated cocaine was being sold there.
Investigators apprehended three of the room’s occupants when they left the room, and a search of the room uncovered 8.1 ounces of cocaine, 13 ounces of marijuana and $6,968 in suspected drug sale proceeds, police said.
Police identified the room’s occupants as Jody J. Rogalo, 28; Melissa L. Curran, 33; and Katelyn J. Somers, 29, all of Watervliet.
Each faces one count of second- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of marijuana, all felonies.
Rogalo’s father, Jody J. Rogalo Sr., 51, of Cohoes, was among those arrested after leaving the motel room. He was found to be in possession of cocaine, police said. He faces a misdemeanor controlled substance possession count and was wanted by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department.
Jacob M. Sovie, 27, of Cohoes, was wanted by the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department and was turned over to them.
Thomas H. Ekmalian, 31, of Watervliet, was charged with misdemeanor controlled substance possession.
Alyssa M. Schuyler, 20, of Cohoes, was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.
Kevin J. Dahl, 23, of Clifton Park, was wanted by the state police and was charged with violation marijuana possession.
