TROY — Defending champion Mohonasen cleared a big hurdle in its path back to the Section II Class A boys’ basketball tournament finals Sunday when the Mighty Warriors knocked off No. 3 seed Averill Park 62-57 in the quarterfinals at Hudson Valley Community College.

Chase Monroe had a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds for the sixth-seeded Warriors (16-6), , who had a 42-35 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Mighty Warriors won the game from the foul line, converting 24 of 28 free throws. Junior guard Timothy Feebie scored all of his season-high 11 points on foul shots, going 11-for-13.

Zach Price led Averill Park (13-8) with 22 points.

Mekeel Christian Academy rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Lansingburgh 66-61.

Ozzy DeJesus led the Lions with 21 points, and Alex Barnhill added 18.

The Lions finished 12-for-20 from 3-point range, with Barnhill and Michael Show (12 points) both making 4 of 7.

Trevor Green and Vinny Tario both finished with 15 points for the Knights.

Ballston Spa struggled from the floor, making just 2 of 20 3-point attempts, as the Scotties’ season ended with a 52-44 loss to Gloversville.

Dante Bouchard and Joey Rowback each scored 19 points for the Dragons, who limited the Scotties to 16 points in the first half.

Luke Alteri had a game-high 23 points for the Scotties, and Keegan Zoller added 10.

In the fourth game of Sunday’s session, Nazaire Merritt scored 18 points, and 11 other players got into the scoring column as Troy rolled to an 87-51 victory over Queens-bury.

Bryce Bleibtry finished with a game-high 23 points for the Spartans, who trailed 45-16 at the half.
