ROTTERDAM – A one-car accident Wednesday afternoon had a section of Helderberg Avenue closed for a time as crews fixed a telephone pole, police said.
No one was injured in the accident, but the driver lost control and struck the pole, causing it to break.
The accident left Helderberg closed between Parklawn and Cedarlawn avenues shortly after 4 p.m. and police said the stretch was expected to remain closed for up to eight hours afterward.
National Grid responded to the scene and was making repairs, police said. The company also reported localized outages in the area of the crash.
