GLENVILLE – A Schenectady man wanted in Glenville on charges he committed sex acts with a 14-year-old girl has been arrested in Pennsylvania, Glenville police said.

Matthew Herbert, 38, of Nora Avenue, Schenectady, was arrested last week on one count each of second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sexual act after being extradited back to Glenville. He also faces a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Herbert is accused of engaging in sexual contact with the girl from summer 2016 to the fall of 2018, police said.

Herbert became aware of his pending arrest in January and he fled the area, police said. Police in South Abington, Pa., which is just north of Scranton, caught up with Herbert Feb. 13. He was then extradited back to Glenville.

Herbert was arraigned and ordered held without bail. He is due back in court this coming week.
