VESTAL — Five UAlbany men’s basketball players scored in double figures, and the Great Danes closed out the America East Conference regular season by beating Binghamton 73-58 Tuesday at Bai Lee Court.

Devonte Campbell and Ahmad Clark scored 14 points each to lead the Great Danes (7-9 AE, 12-19 overall). Malachi De Sousa and Antonio Rizzuto has 12 points apiece, and Cameron Healy added 11.

UAlbany is the sixth seed in the tournament. They will travel to Baltimore to take on third-seeded and defending AE-champion UMBC at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Great Danes opened the second half on a 6-0 run, including back-to-back dunks from Antonio Rizzuto and De Sousa, to take a 38-26 lead and force a Binghamton timeout with 17:57 remaining.

“The win was the number one thing that we wanted, and I really wanted to walk out of here feeling like we played pretty good basketball, “UAlbany head coach Will Brown said. “I thought the last 30 minutes of the game we did that, but it felt like there was a lid on the basket the first 10 minutes. Binghamton’s zone can lull you to sleep, and we weren’t able to get into an offensive rhythm until the second half.”
