
COLONIE – A tip Friday led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and the arrests of two men, Colonie police said.
The tip pointed police to a Green Honda CRV with Vermont plates, police said. Officer Christopher A. Smith then spotted the vehicle just before 4 a.m. in the parking lot of the Valley View Apartments.
Officers waited and the vehicle then left at about 4:43 a.m. and officers then stopped it on Johnson Road, police said.
Police found the loaded .45-caliber Springfield XDS handgun in the back seat. The gun had seven rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber. Officers also found an additional magazine with five extra rounds. Police were investigating the origin of the handgun.
Police arrested both the driver, identified as Scott P. Clark, 23, of Watervliet, and the front seat passenger, Zebadiah J. Jackson, 28, of Troy.
Both Clark and Jackson face one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony. Clark also faces traffic infractions while Jackson faces a violation marijuana count.
Clark and Jackson were arraigned and sent to the Albany County jail, police said.
