NISKAYUNA — SI Group on Monday announced its new leader: David Bradley, a chemical industry veteran who started his career at GE Plastics.

His appointment as president and CEO is effective March 18. He will replace David Mezzanotte, director of private investment firm SK Capital Partners, who has served as interim CEO since the resignation of Frank Bozich, who had led SI Group since 2013.

In late 2018, after SK Capital completed its acquisition of Niskayuna-based SI group, it merged another company in its portfolio — Connecticut-based Addivant — into SI Group. SI Group CEO Bozich and Addivant CEO John Steitz were named co-CEOs of the combined company, which retained the name SI Group.

SI Group announced in January that Bozich would leave to become president and CEO of Trinseo, a Pennsylvania materials company.

Bradley holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Louisville. He began his career at General Electric and later spent seven years at Texas-based Kraton Performance Polymers, where he was chief operating officer.

He most recently served as president and CEO of Nexeo Solutions, a publicly held, international distributor of chemicals, plastics and environmental services based in Texas.

“I am honored and excited to lead SI Group, which has tremendous potential for higher growth and profitability,” Bradley said in a news release. “In partnership with SK Capital and the executive team, I look forward to leveraging the company’s unique product portfolio, global manufacturing base, and exceptional talent in executing our growth strategy.”

SI Group has a total of 3,000-plus employees at more than 30 manufacturing sites on five continents and about $2 billion in annual sales.

Just before the merger, SI Group had 389 Capital Region employees, split about evenly between its headquarters on Balltown Road and a factory in Rotterdam Junction.
