COLONIE – A Clifton Park man drove 96 mph on Interstate 87 while drunk early Sunday, state police said.
Troopers stopped Tyler Shufelt, 32, for speeding on Interstate 87 in Colonie just after 3 a.m., state police said,
Shufelt showed signs of intoxication and failed subsequent tests, troopers said. Troopers soon determined his blood alcohol content to be 0.19 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08.
Troopers also found on Shufelt a quantity of concentrated cannabis, police said.
Shufelt faces one count of felony driving while intoxicated and one count of misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance.
A prior DWI conviction within 10 years makes the new charge a felony, police said.
Shufelt was arraigned and ordered held on bail.
