
WILTON – A Moreau man smashed out car windows in Wilton Saturday and fought with individuals in a driveway there, state police said.
He also drove drunk, troopers said.
Steven L. Bickford, 36, of Moreau, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, along with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, two counts of third-degree assault and other charges, state police said.
The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. as troopers say Bickford used a hammer to break the car’s windows and fought with people there. Those individuals then detained Bickford for police.
After troopers arrived, Bickford continued to fight with police. He later refused to submit to a breath test, troopers said.
Bickford was also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, misdemeanors, and violation disorderly conduct.
He was arraigned and ordered held on $2,500 bail.
