BETHLEHEM — A group home worker from Schenectady mistreated two residents at a facility in Delmar, Bethlehem police said Wednesday.
Maryam N. Mair, 31, was arrested Tuesday after a six-month investigation, police said. She faces two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person and one count of first-degree falsifying business records, both felonies.
The investigation began after the facility reported possible inappropriate care of a resident. Bethlehem police and the state Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs then investigated and discovered a second incident of inappropriate care by Mair of another resident of the same home earlier in 2018, police said.
Police also determined she mistreated a resident and then covered it up by making false entries in home records, police said.
Mair was arraigned and released under probation supervision to return to court later.
Anyone with further information on the case was asked to contact Bethlehem police at 518-439-9973.
