MAYFIELD — A 27-year-old woman was killed Friday morning in a crash on a snow-covered stretch of Route 30.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office said the victim was driving northbound in Mayfield around 8 a.m. when she lost control north of Sand Hill Road and crossed into the southbound lane. Her car then collided with a southbound truck, despite the truck driver veering onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid her.
The Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation with the help of the New York State Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit. It did not immediately release the woman’s identity, as her family had not been notified of her death.
State police, the Mayfield and Broadalbin fire departments and the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps assisted at the crash scene.
